It's been almost two weeks since I packed a suitcase, and more than two months since I've traveled out of town without a busload of teenagers. Time to fix that!
Tomorrow night I'm heading to Chicago for a quick weekend trip that has been in the works since Lookingglass Theatre announced they were doing Metamorphoses for their 25th anniversary season. My favorite theater companies doing one of my favorite (yet never seen!) plays directed by the original director/one of my favorite playwrights? Yes, please!
The run of the show coinciding with the annual ophthalmology conference my parents attend just makes everything shiny and bright. Not only do I get the pleasure of their company, but I get to take them out for a Michelin dinner before the show so they can get a taste of eating from a tasting menu.
It's a weekend of the sort that I adore, and I'm super excited for the whole enterprise.

Wish I could have made the trip! I had a momentary "I need to travel" crisis today, so I'll channel that energy into living vicariously...
